Çanakkale is a city and seaport on the southern coast of the Dardanelles Strait (Çanakkale Boğazı) at its narrowest point. It is a gateway to the Gallipoli (Gelibolu in Turkish) World War I battlefields, North of the Dardanelles Strait. It is also the gateway to the archeological site at Troy (Truva in Turkish).
