Ankara is the capital city of Turkey. It was chosen as the capital by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, when the Turkish Republic was established in 1923. Since then, the city has grown to be the second largest city of the country. Even though it is mostly the government institutions populate the city, there are several major universities as well as several industrial and research complexes around the metropolitan Ankara.
Anatolia was the cradle for many civilizations for the last 8,000 years. There is a very interesting museum in Ankara capturing all the artifacts of some of these civilizations.
Ankara is connected to various cities, including Istanbul via High-Speed Train. We took this High-Speed Train from Istanbul to Ankara. It has reached and traveled part of the way at 250 Km/ hr speed. The new train station in Ankara looks very nice and very comfortable.
